Managing SQL Server using dbatools with Rob Sewell

About Show #572

Ready to manage SQL Server with PowerShell? Richard chats with Rob Sewell about dbatools, an open source effort to build an amazing set of PowerShell commands for SQL Server. Yes, Microsoft has a few PowerShell commands implemented, but when you see the dbatools set, you'll see what PowerShell can really do for you! Rob talks about the focus on migration for continuous integration purposes, upgrading from one version of SQL Server to another, even into the cloud. If you wanted to get to a place where you can experiment with SQL Server configurations, settings and performance, you need dbatools!

Rob is a SQL Server DBA with a passion for Powershell, Azure, Automation, and SQL (PaaS geddit?). He is an officer for the PASS PowerShell Virtual Chapter and has spoken at and volunteered at many events. He is a member of the committees that organise SQL Saturday Exeter, PSDayUK and also European PowerShell Conference. He is a proud supporter of the SQL and Powershell communities and of open source PowerShell and SQL projects - evangelist and contributor for dbatools, founder of dbareports, SQLDiagAPI and contributor to OpenQueryStore He relishes sharing and learning and can be found doing both via Twitter and his blog. He spends most of his time looking at a screen and loves to solve problems. He knows that looking at a screen so much is bad for him because his wife tells him so. Thus, you can find him on the cricket field in the summer and flying a drone in the winter.
